We believe that education is a foundation for the future and is the start to change nations and peoples from the inside out as they fight against cycles of poverty and unemployment.

Obviously a girl

I have heard miss information in the last few months since starting our new adoption, so I did some research and I wanted to share.

When someone heard we where adopting a girl our country, their first statement out of their mouth was "because they only wants boys".  This is so far from the truth I felt the need to write this.

Here is the reality, there are many (and I mean many) boys that are available for adoption from country.  The reality is, a child who have special needs require care specific to that child's needs, care that if available is expensive. Care is not cheaper if it is a boy.  If a family has a second child and they are a boy or girl, the fines that the country requires to be paid is just to much for a family.  Yes, the country requires a family to pay a fine for a second child, regardless if they are boy or girl. There was a great post written about this on the Love Without Boundaries blog. I would encourage everyone to read this. This country does not look at adoption as we do her in America.  They only adopt family members, and they prefer to adopt girls because the fear the boy will just leave.

So, the next time you hear someone is adopting a little girl, dont assume it is because of the "one-child" policy.  On the other side, if you have thought about adoption and wanted to adopt a son, please go to Wonderful Waiting Kids (registration is easy and free) and see all the handsome little gentlemen who need a father to help them grow up to be amazing men. Matching grant update

Our matching grant is (very) slowly getting matched.  We received an update this morning, we still need to raise $1169.  It is great that we have raise half of our grant.  We are so thankful for each and every donation made.  Did you know we are being featured on another blog? A finalized home study.....again

We received some great news today, we have a finalized home study.  Yes, finally again, we have another final home study.  To make this even better, it is now on its way to immigrations with the application.  Now, our prayer is that it moves swiftly and there are no hold ups since it is a change between an i800 to an i600.  We need to pray that whom ever gets our application knows what they are doing.  When I called about our i800 I had to talk to the supervisor of our officer and he told her what to do because she had no clue what she was doing.  If this move quickly, then we will be on schedule to travel before Christmas. 

Our matching grant

We got a report on our matching grant.  With the help of a few people and ALOT of auction items, we now have $593 grant.  We have $1,906 to go, and they (Lifesong) really would like this grant meet by the 18th (tomorrow).  Thank you to everyone who has donated, I truly do appreciate it.  I also hope those who participated in the auction enjoy what they won.

Happy Birthday

Our little one has her birthday this week. We so wish we could have been there to celebrate it with her but know that next year she will celebrate with her family...with her dad and mom and sisters who love her very much.
