Education: Foundation for the Future

13-5 MM Email

The commitment to provide a quality education to every child we serve is just one of our four pledges we make to "our" kids. We believe that education is a foundation for the future and is the start to change nations and peoples from the inside out as they fight against cycles of poverty and unemployment.

YOUR SPONSORSHIP MATTERS...

Mesaye's story of hope in the midst of tragedy is just one of many. Thankfully, she is receiving an education and hope for the future because of her sponsor. But the impact goes even beyond Mesaye! Her grandmother, who has no means of providing for her schooling, is now able to witness Mesaye's growth and trust in her future legacy.

Sponsors support a child like Mesaye with quality education, 2 meals a day and exposure to the Gospel of Jesus Christ for only $19/month! When you sponsor a child, you impact a family!

(100% of sponsorship received goes directly to the need -- helping children! No administrative fees deducted.)

EDUCATION & THE GOSPEL

While providing vulnerable children with an education, we also have the opportunity to share with them the good news of the Gospel of Christ. Watch Teja, student at Lifesong India, explain the impact of not only education, but also spiritual discipleship he received.

Obviously a girl

I have heard miss information in the last few months since starting our new adoption, so I did some research and I wanted to share.

When someone heard we where adopting a girl our country, their first statement out of their mouth was "because they only wants boys".  This is so far from the truth I felt the need to write this.

Here is the reality, there are many (and I mean many) boys that are available for adoption from country.  The reality is, a child who have special needs require care specific to that child's needs, care that if available is expensive. Care is not cheaper if it is a boy.  If a family has a second child and they are a boy or girl, the fines that the country requires to be paid is just to much for a family.  Yes, the country requires a family to pay a fine for a second child, regardless if they are boy or girl. There was a great post written about this on the Love Without Boundaries blog. I would encourage everyone to read this. This country does not look at adoption as we do her in America.  They only adopt family members, and they prefer to adopt girls because the fear the boy will just leave.

So, the next time you hear someone is adopting a little girl, dont assume it is because of the "one-child" policy.  On the other side, if you have thought about adoption and wanted to adopt a son, please go to Wonderful Waiting Kids (registration is easy and free) and see all the handsome little gentlemen who need a father to help them grow up to be amazing men. If you have a heart for special needs children, go to Reece's Rainbow, and check out some adorable little (and big) boys.

Help an Ethiopia student find sponsors!

What would the world look like if each of us made it our responsibility to see one less orphan without an education...one less orphan without a growling hunger... or one less orphan without a bleak future of poverty?

In the next 45 days, our goal is to find a sponsor for every single child who has yet to be sponsored at our school in Lifesong Ethiopia. (Gulp! That's a tall order! See below how YOU can help.) We are asking for an investment of just $19/month that will result in a future leader for the renewal of Africa from the inside out.

Invest in a life of a child. Invest in self-sufficiency. Invest in bringing hope to one more orphan.

Together we can get EVERY child sponsored! Will you help us?

How can YOU help each child find a sponsor:

  • PRAY: Join us in praying for the 587 children who are unsponsored in Ethiopia. Pray for the thousands that will be given the opportunity to sponsor--that hearts would be open to helping a child in need. Pray that God will raise advocates to help spread the word!
  • ADVOCATE: Maybe sponsoring a child isn't an option for you at this time but you have a platform and a voice to let the need be known! Follow us on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram and share the One Less campaign with your friends & followers.
  • SPONSOR: Commit to sponsor a students at Lifesong Ethiopia School long-term for $19/month to help ensure that they get the incredible education, spiritual mentoring and food that they need to break the cycle of poverty. To see the children yet to be sponsored, please visit: www.zatproject.com/oneless

A finalized home study.....again

We received some great news today, we have a finalized home study.  Yes, finally again, we have another final home study.  To make this even better, it is now on its way to immigrations with the application.  Now, our prayer is that it moves swiftly and there are no hold ups since it is a change between an i800 to an i600.  We need to pray that whom ever gets our application knows what they are doing.  When I called about our i800 I had to talk to the supervisor of our officer and he told her what to do because she had no clue what she was doing.  If this move quickly, then we will be on schedule to travel before Christmas.
