Having faith is not the same as having trust

This past Sunday I was sitting in church and listening as I usually do. Majority of the time, I listen.. take note of what is said, and maybe one day it will apply to me directly.  Well, it was the same this past Sunday.  The sermon was on faith and I listened and took notes, because at that moment it did not apply to me but figured it would at some point...little did I know that point would be less then 24 hours later.

In the past few weeks I have basically spent way to much time on the evil face(book).  While it is my connection to all my old friends who live far away and with out it I would more then likely lose touch with most of them...it is also a place for me to see other people in different stages of adoption...which in most ways is exciting and wonderful...but this is a negative for me in some ways.  I see their successes and I am jealous of it...this has nothing to do with seeing them with their little people, I know that will happen...it is other things (getting paperwork done super fast and being successful with fundraising). I ask myself why exactly can they get this, that, and the other things and I am struggling. Yes, the 'face' feeds my jealously (also, known as Satan).  And I get obsessed with others and what they have and dwell on what we dont have...all the while telling myself it is not right to think that way.  While I am joyous in other people's victories, I am silently wishing the same thing would happen to us...and I am very discouraged when it does not. What is sad is that I am not like this...I have never been like this.  I love to see others and all their joyous occasions.

So, here is what I am learning (at least at this current moment)....

Faith comes from knowledge, I know that we are doing the right thing by adoption.  I know that there will be struggles but I know that through those struggles God will be with us every step of the way.  I know this, because God put adoption on my heart many years ago.  I have no doubt that what we are doing is in God's will.  Now, here is the kicker...trust come with a relationship.  BAM!  Which means I need to trust that God will provide the funds for us to adopt our little girl.  This means that for me to FULLY trust God I must have a continuous relationship with Him.  No, just praying before meals. (I dont just pray before means but just using that as an example)  A full on relationship with Him.  There are days I feel we will not make it through this adoption (financially).  I have always been the person to watch what I spend money on (long before we ever go married).  I know where the money goes and I know how much is due and when.  Because of this, I tend to stress month to month to make sure what needs to be paid is paid and what needs to be saved is saved and what needs to be done is done.  Sadly, I stress about this on a regular bases and adding this adoption to the mix is giving me more gray hairs (although I dont have very many dark hairs left).  But here is the thing...if I trusted that God will provide for this adoption, then I would most definitely stop stressing (or at least give me less).

What I do know...it takes faith the size of a mustard seed to be a Christian but it takes trust to know God will take care of everything.  This is HUGE in the world of adoption.  Trusting that God will take care of everything.  Now that does not mean to just sit around and do nothing, He still wants you to go and actively do things.  God will not just put something in your lap, He expects you to work for it.

What does this mean...I need to focus on God always.  By doing so, it will put me at ease and know that all will come in His time and not my own.

it is HOT..and dry...

Where is the rain? Apparently there is no rain across the US. It seems like this happens every year around this time of the year. It happens during this time of the year that everyone wants to use fireworks. The thing is, I am ok with this. Why? because I am always afraid that someone who does not know what they are doing will light one and have it land on our house.
So, keep praying that those in areas that have fires, that all will stay safe and they will be done soon. Pray for those in warm area and no fires that they do not start. Stay hydrated everyone and soon it will be fall, which is my favorite time of the year.
